The Gunnison Valley Observatory is a 501(C)3 nonprofit corporation and the largest telescope open to the public in Colorado.  You can assist the Gunnison Valley Observatory in meeting its mission and goals through financial and in-kind donations, memberships and volunteerism or by booking a private viewing.

The Gunnison Valley Observatory, 2804 County Road 38 (Gold Basin Road), is located exactly 2 miles south of the turn to Hartman Rocks from U.S. Route 50. GVO is on the east or left hand side of the road. Please park in the parking lot and proceed on foot to the observatory. Our volunteer GVO staff will get you oriented once on site.

Gunnison Valley nights can be very cool and telescopic astronomy is largely an outdoor event. For maximum comfort please bring appropriate outerwear such as coats, hats, gloves, thick socks, and blankets. Water and tea are available upon request. Please bring your own cups and mugs to reduce waste impact upon the property.
